Course description for Facilities of your System
This class is designed for beginners that have some of experience using XP, Vista or Windows7. The class is not operating system specific although most of the examples are drawn from Vista and Windows7.
The class will acquaint you with 5 topics structured into 4 chapters.
The Desktop here I will show you a lot of hidden features of the desktop that you may have not yet have discovered. Those are features that will make your life easier to operate the system, make your system look nicer and allow you to make useful system settings and understand the operations of the system.
The Disk describes the different types of disks and their use. It gives you an insight into the internal structure and the capacity mysteries of the disk, its facilities and how to make the right settings to properly manage the disk(s).
The Memory (RAM) here you learn how your memory is being used by the system, what settings you should apply to make best use of your memory, how to optimize memory performance and how to determine and fix unusual memory conditions.
The CPU explains the different types of CPUs, how the CPU is utilized and how to determine exceptional conditions and what to do in situations when the CPU is overloaded.
Hints and Tips This chapter is a collection of a lot of useful tips. I will introduce you to a variety of programs that may come in handy. (Note that I also introduce a lot of programs in the previous chapters.) I will also show you where to find a collection of tutorials, where to go for help and how to use upload sites for materials that you may want to send to someone but are too big to attach to a mail.
This class will come with a 60 page PDF document that describes everything that is being said and contains all the links to the programs I mention as well as to all the websites that are being discussed thus you need not take any notes. Each of the chapters also comes with a 45 minute video that I have captured from the screen and is supposed to be a complete duplicate of what I present in class. Thus you will be able to review the whole class by reading or watching in the comfort of your home as often as you feel necessary and practice all the steps that are explained.
I also plan to be available about 2 weeks after the class for a Questions and Answers session. I am sure, after studying the materials and practicing the steps, you will come up with a lot of questions which I will then try to answer. |
