Vista Mail
2 session Hands-On class

Prerequisite:  If you are a beginning computer user, it is recommended you start your learning experience with our Introduction To Computer classes, either for XP or Vista.  This is not a prerequisite for Vista Mail, but suggested for beginners.

Vista has a built-in email program, as did previous versions of Windows.  You will discover that this Vista Mail is very similar to Outlook Express if you have used that before.

One of the nicest things about using this program for your email, is that even though it is free, you will not have to deal with any advertisements, ever. No banners, no pop-ups, just a nice email program.

We can show you how to easily compose mail with all kinds of formatting, add pictures in the body of the mail or as an attachment, set up an address book so you just have to click on a name to have your mail addressed for you.  You can compose your mail on nice built-in stationary if you desire.

You’ll see how to build one or several “signatures”, (these might include your name, address, phone, or anything else you like).  Then after you compose your email, just one click and all this information is added for you to the bottom of your email.

Windows Mail has a spell checker as long as you have one other program on your computer with a spell checker.

You can also view and use the “Folder” section on the left side of your screen.  This can be a useful “filing cabinet” for important saved emails.

Your address book in Windows Mail is now called “Contacts”.  You have a choice of adding all kinds of information for each of your contacts if you desire.
Any saved mail and your Contacts list is then available to you in all the other areas of Vista, and in the Search feature.  You no longer have to open your email program to view this information.

A very nice, useful friendly program to use for your email.
