Basic Photoshop Elements
4 sessions Hand-On class
Prerequisite: It is strongly recommended that you be familiar with using Windows, and the Windows basics such as, copying and pasting, Selecting or Highlighting, Saving and using the mouse.
As the name suggests, Elements is a program for working with your photos.
There is an organizer in the program that can be very useful to someone who doesn’t already have a method of saving and finding your photos. After you bring your photos into the Elements organizer, you can “tag” them with one or more ready made tags or even tags of your making. Then you can instantly see all the photos at once that have one of these tags by clicking on the specific tag. You can also group your photos into collections to help you organize.
Now you will be introduced to working with “layers”. A concept where you can do different things on different layers, allowing you to easily make changes as desired to these individual layers, and then the final result is a composite of all the layers.
Next you will learn about “fixing” your photos. If you have ever had photos that seemed like they were throwaways, you might be amazed at what this program can do to improve these photos. Lighten, darken pictures, More or less contrast, Correct bad color, add more color when necessary, or remove some color if there is too much. Then you’ll sharpen them.
Other projects might include making fancy collages, and maybe taking a part of one picture and putting it in another picture.
Then you’ll learn to use the program for emailing photos, on a very fancy background if you like, and printing your photos right from this program.
Photoshop has some very useful ways to layout your photos to avoid wasting photo paper. This is the basics of Photoshop Elements. Organize, Improve, and making some projects, including emailing and printing.
