Basic Windows Vista

4 sessions Hand-On class
To get the most out of this class, we recommend taking the lecture series INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS WITH WINDOWS VISTA first.
For those who are really new to computers and deficient in basic computer skills like using a mouse, attend the lecture series first, then the GETTING COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR PC hands on before taking this class.
Windows Vista is the latest operating system available from Microsoft.  If you are completely new to computers, this hands-on will walk you through the basics of the features this operating system has to offer. Information you learned in the lecture series will now be presented again; giving you the opportunity to access programs and files on our lab computers.  You will learn how the computer’s filing system is set up and get a chance to create folders, and place files in them.   See what programs are included with the operating system like WordPad (a simple to use word processing program) and WindowsMail (an email client).  Learn about Help and Support to make it easier to find out more about Vista beyond what you learn here. Get introduced to the Control Panel where many special settings can be made to customize your computer for your needs, and so much more.
For the computer user upgrading from Windows XP, we still recommend attending the lecture series before the hands-on.
